Takeout Tuesday - Jinya Ramen Bar Pike & Rose - Chef's Special Spicy Mazemen

I recently caught the tail end of the last Chef's Special noodle dish at Jinya Ramen Bar, which was a spicy Mazemen (brothless noodles that you mix together with the toppings).  The components of the dish are packed into separate containers for takeout, so it was easy to put everything back together at home.   The seasoned thick noodles were topped with a lot of stuff - bonito flakes, pork Chashu, nori, Kimchi, green onion, and of course the delicious soft seasoned egg!  This was really flavorful and had so much texture, I really enjoyed this one.  I hope they bring this one back - or another similar Mazemen dish - again soon!

Jinya Ramen Pike and Rose - Chef's Special Kara-Men

I'm a big fan of Jinya Ramen's regular menu items, but I also really enjoy that they have special menu items available throughout the year to switch it up a bit!

The current Chef's special is available until May 31st, and is a spicy "Kara-men": clear chicken broth, ground pork, bean sprouts, green onion, onion, cilantro, chili paste, onsen tamago, and sesame seed.  I did switch the thin noodles for their thick noodles because I like them better, but otherwise kept everything as listed.  This was a great bowl with a lot of flavor!  I'm not even a big cilantro fan but it was fine in this dish, plus it added a nice pop of color to the rest of the bowl, haha.  It was not really as spicy as I thought it would be, but it was still very delicious and I'd definitely get it again!

Top Ramen - Gudetama Edition

Even though I'm fully aware that it's still just regular ramen inside, the Gudetama edition of these Top Ramen packages is SO SO fun! On this trip to the grocery store I found the Chicken and Soy Sauce (Vegetarian) designs available, with the iconic Japanese cartoon character all over it, haha.  Putting eggs in ramen is a pretty common thing especially in Japan, so it totally makes sense that they'd do a collaboration like this.  I can't wait to see the collection's merchandise when that becomes available too!
