Takeout Tuesday - Boston Creme Pie Cookie from Crumbl Cookies

 

This Boston Creme Pie cookie from Crumbl Cookies is definitely one of the more creative favorites I've tried so far! The cookie base is shaped like a mini pie crust, with a generous scoop of vanilla pudding and chocolate ganache.  This is such a fun take on Boston Creme pie, and since I already like those flavors this was a winner in my book for sure.  I hope this flavor comes back again soon! 

Takeout Tuesday - Crispy Pork Belly Panang Curry from Bangkok Garden

 

Mmm, just seeing this photo makes me wish I had this dish to eat again now!  This is Bangkok Garden - Rockville's Panang Curry with crispy pork belly as the protein, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite takeout dishes of theirs.  They offer a wide range of protein options on a lot of their dishes, from vegetables, tofu, chicken, and of course this delicious crispy pork belly.  The crunchy texture of the outside of the pork belly with the creamy Panang curry is an awesome combination over rice!  This was a generous portion that I enjoyed over several meals, adding some of my own stir fried vegetables to bulk up leftovers as well.  Definitely give this one a try if you're local!

Takeout Tuesday - Old Bay Goldfish Crackers

 

I'm so happy that I randomly came across these new Old Bay Goldfish crackers! I love the packaging that combines the design of both the Old Bay spice tins and the Goldfish cracker bag.  These limited edition Goldfish crackers are perfect for the summer, especially if you love Old Bay crabs.  The cheesy crackers and savory spices are a great match even if there is no real seafood involved, haha! I am definitely biased being in Maryland but this is such a fun collaboration that I hope they bring back again in the future.  

Takeout Tuesday - Pizza Bagel from Call Your Mother Deli

There's something so simple and delicious about a pizza bagel to me - and when you can elevate it like this version from Call Your Mother deli, it's even better! 

This pizza bagel is part of the dinner menu at their Pike and Rose location, and is a plain bagel topped with tomato sauce, Mozz/Prov cheese blend, pepperoni, and pesto.  My favorite parts are the super crispy mini pepperoni cups and the combination of the tomato and pesto sauces together.  This is definitely one of the highlights of their dinner menu for me, and I'm happy that they're offering fun items like this later in the day so close to me!

Takeout Tuesday - Cookies and Cream Brioche Doughnut From Sunday Morning Bakehouse

If you love Oreos you will definitely enjoy this cookies and cream Brioche doughnut from Sunday Morning Bakehouse!  I got this one a while back but I am hoping that it comes back again soon into the rotating doughnut menu.  The filling was delicious and I love the look of the cookie crumb topping as well.  I also look forward to seeing what the next special doughnut is! 

 

Takeout Tuesday - Strawberries n' Cream Croissant from Sunday Morning Bakehouse

This Strawberries n' Cream croissant from Sunday Morning Bakehouse is the perfect springtime treat!  These twice baked croissants look so pretty with the fruit and edible flower details, and are such a unique menu item.  I love the contrast of the cream filling and the crispy outer layers of the croissant.  They have had a few variations of these in the past and this one is great for representing the start of warm weather and blooming flowers.  Give it a try if you are in the area!

Takeout Tuesday - Buttermilk Pancake Cookie from Crumbl Cookies

 

I love all of the creative cookie flavors at Crumbl Cookies, and this Buttermilk Pancake is no exception!  From the smell alone it reminds me of a stack of warm pancakes, and I love the detail of the buttercream frosting "butter" to complete the look.  The cookie really does taste like pancakes with syrup, and was even better when it was briefly warmed up.  I hope that this one comes back again! 

Takeout Tuesday - Nutella Bun from Sunday Morning Bakehouse

 

I've seen this Nutella bun offered a few weekends now at Sunday Morning Bakehouse - I hope it is becoming a regular menu item!  

The crispy croissant layers with the Nutella and chopped hazelnut filling is a perfect combination of texture in each bite.  I think this is pretty much the same as the Nutella twist they also have had before, but I like the swirled design of this one as well.  So delicious if you like Nutella! 

Takeout Tuesday - ChiKo's Dumpling Week

ChiKo had their special Dumpling Week offered again this year so of course I had to get it this year too!  I love the whole idea of a dumpling-filled takeout special with so many different flavors.  The menu is listed below - I loved all of them and I liked how they were all prepared differently as well.  Everything reheated well and the two bottles of sauces are great to have on hand too.  I can't wait to see their next takeout special menu!

Takeout Tuesday - French Ham and Butter Sandwich from Sunday Morning Bakehouse

 

Do not sleep on this French ham and butter sandwich from Sunday Morning Bakehouse! It might sound simple but the components all come together to make a really delicious sandwich.  This consists of "thinly sliced ham, Swiss cheese, and Cornichon pickle slices on a buttered baguette".  The crispy outer layer of the baguette works so well with the softer cheese and ham, and the tiny pickles added a nice briny touch.  It's easy to forget about the "regular" sandwiches with so many fun sweets they regularly have out on display, but this one is a great lunch option! 

Takeout Tuesday - Too Good to Go Order from Teamania

 

I've used the Too Good to Go app a handful of times, and I love how there's always an element of surprise.  I see what's available in my area, and pay ahead of time for a surprise bag from a participating local spot - snacks, meals, and sometimes even market grocery items.  

One of my favorite spots to use the app has been Teamania, an Asian-European bakery in Rockville because the store has so many items that could be in my surprise bag.  In this recent bag a few weeks ago, there was a wide range of sweet and savory items, and everything was delicious!  I especially liked how I could try items that maybe I wouldn't think to get if I was there on my own, like the ones with pork or cheese inside.  Even if I get their bag on multiple days, it's fun knowing that each bag can be very different inside.  It has definitely been nice to be able to try out so many of their bakery items!

Takeout Tuesday - Falafel Sandwich from Shouk

Look at how packed this falafel pita from Shouk Rockville is, yum!  I enjoyed Shouk's falafel as a salad bowl before, but I'm glad I tried it out in the sandwich form as well.  The falafel balls remained crisp with a fluffy center, and all of the other fresh vegetables made for a very filling dinner.  

I really liked how they package these too - the pita sandwich came boxed up and all I did was split open the top part of the box - which leaves a great sandwich holder while keeping everything intact in transit.  Really innovative!

Takeout Tuesday - Valentine's Box from Sunday Morning Bakehouse

 

I ordered the Valentine's treat box from Sunday Morning Bakehouse again this year, and again it did not disappoint in both cuteness and taste!  There's a little bit of everything in terms of sweets in this Valentine's day themed box - cookies, Rice Krispy treats, brownies, and more.  I love how festive these all look packed together! Lots of the items freeze well too which is helpful so I'm not eating everything at once, haha.  I hope they keep continuing to do these fun themed pre-order boxes! 

Takeout Tuesday - Bistek Breakfast Sandwich from Lapu Lapu

 

Mmm, just looking at this photo is making me hungry! KuyaJa's recently did a few pop-up events for their upcoming restaurant, Lapu Lapu so of course I had to check them out! 

This is the Bistek breakfast sandwich, which consists of thin sliced lemon soy ribeye, fried egg, pickled onions, white American cheese sauce, lettuce, and garlic Adobo mayo.  As you can see this sandwich was packed to the brim, and super messy in the best way possible.  The various toppings really added to the delicious thin sliced beef, and I really enjoyed it! I am sure that everyone will love all of the creative menu items when they open!

Takeout Tuesday - Chocolate Potato Chip Cookie from Crumbl Cookies

Kicking off this year's Takeout Tuesday with an older item, but one that I hope comes back sometime soon this year!  This Chocolate Potato Chip cookie from Crumbl Cookies was the perfect mix of salty and sweet packed into a giant cookie.  All of the texture throughout the cookie made this a really unique cookie, especially since it doesn't have frosting like most of their other flavors.  I hope to see this one again soon!

 

Takeout Tuesday - Falafel Rice and Lentils Bowl from Shouk Rockville

I was looking forward to checking out the new Shouk location in Rockville since I had heard good things about them from people that have tried it in DC.  I always like a new fast casual concept menu, and this bowl from Shouk was delicious! 

For my first visit I ordered the falafel in a rice and lentil bowl, which comes with chickpea & herb falafel, pickled green cabbage, Israeli salad (tomato/cucumber/onion), pickle, and tahina.  As you can see there's a lot of stuff packed into the bowl with a variety of flavors and textures.  The falafel were crispy and warm well into me eating this at home, which is always a plus.  The toppings were all fresh and it was very delicious all combined together.  They have an ordering screen which makes seeing your options very easy, and also do online ordering for easy pickup.  I will be back soon to try more of their menu!

Takeout Tuesday - Piccoli Piatti Pizzeria

So seeing these photos were a nice reminder that I need to get over to Piccoli Piatti again ASAP, haha.

Piccoli Piatti opened towards the end of 2020 in the Wildwood shopping center, and has lots of menu options, pizzas and otherwise available.  Below we have the Margherita and Pepperoni pizzas, some classic flavors but the taste was anything but basic!  I loved the bubbly and pleasantly chewy crust along with the strong flavors of the toppings.  The slices froze and reheated well in a toaster oven, which is a nice bonus if you have leftovers.  

In addition to pizzas they have a wide range of small plates, salads, and lunch-only sandwiches on their menu.  I'll have to get over there soon to try more items from their menu!

Takeout Tuesday - Macarons from Sweets by Caroline

I saw that Sweets by Caroline was having a pop up at a local Athleta store this past weekend and made my way over there to pick up some of her macarons.  I've had her macarons before and really love her creative and delicious macarons.  

The whole lineup at the pop up was so cute, with some seasonal flavors mixed in too.  I got two of the Creme Brulee, and then one of each of Cookies and Cream, S'mores, Cinnamon Roll, and Apple Pie.  These macarons pack so much flavor in each bite, and I love the creativity in the presentation of them as well.  Her macarons are sold at the shop local store in Rockville Town Square, but I also hope to catch her at another local pop up or event again soon! 

 

Takeout Tuesday - The Mountain View at Call Your Mother Deli

 

The Mountain View breakfast sandwich at Call Your Mother Deli is packed full of deliciousness, with a combination of foods that I never thought to put in a bagel, haha.  This contains bodega-style local eggs, American and cheddar cheeses, a latke, and avocado on a plain bagel.  The latke definitely stood out to me as being so random for a sandwich ingredient but it works so well! The only thing I would've added is some hot sauce which I didn't really of until after the fact, but it was a super filling and delicious sandwich either way.  Everything except the avocado was nice and hot, with lots of gooey cheese in every bite.  So delicious!

Takeout Tuesday - Pumpkin Spice Milk from Greenheart

 

I was very happy to see this pumpkin spice cashew milk available at the Pike and Rose farmers' market this past weekend after seeing it on the Greenheart Juice Shop's Instagram account.  I've tried almost all of their market offerings so far and of course I love trying anything pumpkin spice flavored.  I can't really say what is different about "activated cashew milk" myself but it tasted very smooth and I wouldn't have really known that it was different from another non-dairy milk.  The pumpkin spice and maple syrup definitely stood out to me as the strongest flavors in this.  This was really tasty and a fun new way to enjoy pumpkin spice season!
