Review: Yoplait Light Red Velvet Cake Yogurt

  • I Paid: $0.69 at Harris Teeter

  • Description: Fat Free, Red Velvet Cake

There are some things that just sound too good to be true.  And even when you know you should dial back your expectations, there's a little part that thinks maybe it'll be good anyway.  But then the sad, sad reality comes busting right through in the end.

That melodramatic blurb pretty much sums up how I feel about the Yoplait Light Red Velvet Cake yogurt pictured above.  I figured I might as well try it out since a) it's new; and b) I love red velvet cake.  Obviously I wasn't expecting it to taste JUST like the real cake, but I did think that if it was good enough, I'd put it in my regular morning yogurt rotation.

Ok...ummmm. WTF. Not only did this yogurt not taste like cake, cocoa, cream cheese frosting, or anything remotely resembling red velvet cake, I literally could NOT figure out what it tasted like period.  And I don't think it's because it's a Light flavor- I have had Yoplait Light before so I know what to expect in terms of the artificial taste.  I ate about half the container just to try to figure out what it tasted similar to/reminded me of, and seriously couldn't come up with anything. "Sugar yogurt" was about as close as I could get.  If anyone feels like taking on the challenge of trying this out, please let me know if you can figure out what this flavor actually tastes like!!

  3. OMG meant to tell you...I tried this during Lent (so basically anything sweet made me happy) but it was F'ing terrible!! Wish I could have warned you...it might taste waxy if I remember correctly yuck!!

  4. @Meppers: Yay, glad you could comment! And lemme know if u try it, haha.

@Ashley: Well I'm glad it wasn't just me, haha!
