Taylor Gourmet - Washington Square Salad + Chocolate Chip Cookie

Recently, Taylor Gourmet announced three new spring salads, and I was excited to try them all out!  I started off with this Washington Square: Romaine hearts, watermelon, tomato, red onion, goat cheese, basil vinaigrette.  I was wondering if this salad might be too watery with the tomato and watermelon, but all of the components went REALLY well together, especially with the addition of the basil vinaigrette.  I'm not quite sure exactly what is in this dressing, but dayyyyyyyyyyyyyym, it is GOOD.  I would definitely order this fresh and light salad again!

While I was there, I also decided to try one of their chocolate chip cookies.  First of all, the cookie was huge, haha.  There was an ample amount of chocolate chips in each bite of the buttery cookie.  While my focus at Taylor is obviously the hoagies and salads- it's always nice to have a sweet option available!

Taylor Gourmet - Kelly Drive Hoagie

Yummmmm, another Taylor Gourmet hoagie post!

This lovely hoagie is the Kelly Drive hoagie on wheat: prosciutto, sopressata, sharp provolone, lettuce, tomato, and onion.  This was super delicious, probably moreso because I looooooooooove me some prosciutto, haha.  It's simple and tasty, just the way a hoagie should be :o)

Taylor Gourmet - Pattison Avenue Hoagie

Sorry for the somewhat dark photo- the sun wasn't really cooperating that day, haha.

Here we have the Pattison Avenue hoagie from Taylor Gourmet: Roasted pork, broccoli rabe, and sharp provolone.  This is the first pork (hot) hoagie I've tried, and I liked this one a lot.  I was definitely appreciative that they chop the broccoli rabe into smaller pieces - sometimes places will leave long stems of broccoli rabe whole which is fine for plated dinners, but not so much a hoagie that you're trying to take bites out of haha.  It did start to feel a little one-note after a few bites though, but that may be because I'm used to their cold hoagies with all the fixings.  The roasted pork was delicious and flavorful, if you're a fan of pork (and don't like "fussy" hoagies), then try this one out!

Taylor Gourmet - Locust Street Hoagie

Mmm... hoagie.  Here we have another Taylor Gourmet item to check off my list, the Locust Street: Taylor home roasted turkey, sharp provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion.

I've tried a few of their hoagies with the home roasted turkey, and I have to say that I enjoy it a lot.  It's not dry but tastes like real turkey (cus it is, go figure) vs. a slimy lesser-quality turkey deli meat.  This is probably one of the more basic hoagies on the list, but that's definitely not a bad thing!

Taylor Gourmet: Franklin Square Pastina Salad

Another tasty salad courtesy of Taylor Gourmet, yum!  Arugula, pastina, cannellini beans, crispy prosciutto, and parmesan cheese, and Taylor vinaigrette on the side. As you may or may not be able to tell, I got this sans parmesan cheese this time around.

Seriously, this salad could've been a box of sand- as long as the crispy prosciutto was included, I would've happily eaten it.  However, the other ingredients are much better than a box of sand, haha.  This salad was enough for two separate meals which is also nice.  I'm not a huge fan of beans in general but they added some volume to the salad which I liked.  Onto the next one!

Taylor Gourmet - Schuylkill Expressway + Lombard Avenue Hoagies

In my quest to chomp through the entire Taylor Gourmet menu, here's two more hoagies that I've recently had.

Up top we've got the Schuykill Expressway, aka the one I can never pronounce, no matter how close I've lived to Philly my whole life, haha.  I think it's supposed to be "Skew-cal" but I'm not even really sure about that, so don't quote me on it.  Name confusion aside, this hoagie packs in prosciutto, roasted red peppers, sharp provolone, lettuce, and onion.  I'm not a huge fan of onions but it added a nice sharp tang to the red peppers and the thin slices of prosciutto.

Here we've got the Lombard Avenue, which is Soppresata, Genoa salami, roasted red peppers, pesto, fresh mozzarella, and lettuce.  I love Genoa salami so this was already going to be a winner for me, haha.   I probably could've done without the roasted red pepper because the texture was too similar to the thick slices of mozzarella, but it's still a v. tasty hoagie.

I can't wait to keep going down the Taylor Gourmet menu, woo!

Taylor Gourmet Bethesda - 9th Street Italian Hoagie

You may or may not have noticed a fair sprinkling of Taylor Gourmet posts recently on my blog.  Well the reason for that, my friends, is my newfound "goal" (in quotes cus really, who thinks of goals like this...) is to try every item on their Bethesda menu, eventually, haha.  I specifically say the Bethesda menu because I'm assuming all three locations' menus are identical, but in case they decide to do specific specials at some point.  I'm also doing this because it's a good way to force myself to try new items from their extensive menu, plus I'm pretty much almost done with trying every Georgetown Cupcake flavor, haha!

Here we have the 9th Street Italian Hoagie: Genoa salami, capicola, prosciutto, sharp provolone, lettuce, tomato, and onion.  Salami and prosciutto are two of my favorites, so this was a total WIN in my book.  I can see why it's one of the crowd favorites!

So, that's two hoagies down... and how many more?!?!  Better step up my gym time if I actually want to complete this!

Taylor Gourmet Bethesda - Reyburn Pastina Salad

I was in downtown Bethesda one night for a Lululemon store event, and was getting pretty hungry as I was heading back home.  I'd been interested in trying Taylor Gourmet's Pastina (little pasta) salads for a while, and figured it was a good time to pick one up to check it out.

I decided on the Reyburn: Arugula, pastina, salami, sopressata, capicola, cherry tomatoes, red onions, sharp provolone.

Check out all the colors and deliciousness in this bad boy!  I looooooooooooooooved this salad.  In fact, I had planned on eating half and saving the rest for lunch the next day- aaaaaand that did not happen.  I loved how all the different tastes mixed together - the sharp arugula and provolone cheese, with the fatty cubes of salami, the sweetness of the cherry tomatoes, and the crunch of the red onion pieces.  I can't wait to try the other pastina salads, especially if they're as good as this one!

Taylor Gourmet Bethesda - Fried Ravioli

A while back I won a free Fritto item via Taylor Gourmet's Facebook page, woohoo!  Since I had tried the Arancini before, I decided to give the Fried Ravioli a try this time around.

Side note: Fried ravioli will forever remind me of Bucknell's food services, as fried raviolis were always a popular item at the Terrace room and/or the Caf, haha. Mmmmmm....College.  Haha.

These fried ravioli were even better than I had expected!  They remained crisp on the outside even after a car ride home while being tightly wrapped with aluminum foil.  The cheese on the inside was unexpectedly soft, less of a string cheese feeling and more of a yummy soft ricotta-type cheese mixture.  Mmmmmmmmmm!  I would definitely get these again (and pay for them, haha) as a tasty alternative to a hoagie from Taylor.

Taylor Gourmet Bethesda- Arancini

As much as I've already fallen in love with Taylor Gourmet's hoagies,  I figured their other menu items  were also worth a look, haha.

One of their Fritto items, the Arancini, are pretty much risotto in breaded form- how can you go wrong with that, seriously?  Each order comes with five meatball-sized risotto balls, with a side of a slightly spicy marinara sauce.

As you can see from my oh-so-artistic "bite" shot, these are packed full of cheesy rice-y goodness.  The crispy breaded coating is a great contrast to the creamy innards.  I also liked the slightly spicy marinara sauce, a perfect pairing with the Arancini.

It might be hard to tear me away from the numerous hoagie choices here, but if you're so inclined, check out the Arancini for a filling and satisfying non-hoagie option :o)

Taylor Gourmet - Bethesda

I've been eagerly awaiting the opening of Taylor Gourmet's Bethesda location- their other two locations weren't totally out of the way for me, but far away enough that it wasn't really somewhere I could go "on the way" to somewhere, either.  Finally, finally, finally, the Bethesda location opened up in the beginning of September, woohoo!  Believe me, you'd be excited too if you grew up in the Tri-State area and then found yourself completely hoagie-less after moving to the DC metro area.  There's just nothing like a really good, well-crafted Italian hoagie, seriously.

I decided to post this after going twice, which (not surprisingly) happened within the span of one weekend, haha.  C'mon, I was excited to eat hoagies!

My first visit, I ordered a Spruce Street: Taylor Home Roasted Turkey, Prosciutto, Roasted Red Peppers, Sharp Provolone, Lettuce, and Onion.  All of their bread comes from Sarcone's Bakery in Philly, and all hoagies are dressed with olive oil, red wine vinegar, and Italian seasoning.

Hoagie Innards

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  This was super delicious and I ate it really really really quickly.  Although, now that I think about it- there were a few changes in this hoagie, based on their online menu.  First of all, there were no roasted red peppers in here- kinda disappointing, since I'm sure if would've added a extra bit of flavor in there.  Also, there's tomatoes - not that I mind since I like tomatoes, but it isn't listed on their online menu.  Oh, and somewhat related- if you don't want something in your sub, be sure to specify it when you order, or else they pretty much put everything in there.

Race Street Hoagie

For my second trip there, I ordered the Race Street: Taylor Home Roasted Turkey, Prosciutto, Pesto, Fresh Mozzarella, Lettuce, Tomato, and Onion.  The addition of pesto was really nice, as was the squishyness of the soft mozzarella.  As you might have noticed, I ordered two hoagies with their roasted turkey- moist, really delicious, I'd definitely recommend it!

Overall, I'm super excited to have a Taylor Gourmet shop near my apartment- as is everyone else in the area, apparently, based on the huge lines this past Sunday, haha.  It can get a little hectic there at times, with wait times up to 15 minutes or so, but I'm willing to wait for a delicious meal!  I will definitely be back, Taylor Gourmet!
