Recent Book Purchases

Read any good books lately?  I already have a stack of books that I've been meaning to get to, but I couldn't resist using a gift card on these books to read as well.  So far I have finished Call Me By Your Name, and just started China Rich Girlfriend a few days ago.

Call Me By Your Name was a great movie, and I liked how the original story was compared to the movie version.  It was a quick read for me, and I loved how well the author describes the long and lazy days of summer in Italy.  If anyone has read Crazy Rich Asians, the next book in the series is China Rich Girlfriend, and it's again filled with LOTS of characters, delicious-sounding food, and extravagant name-dropping throughout, haha.  Finally, I haven't read too much about The Actor's Life by Jenna Fischer previously, but I always enjoy reading "behind the scenes"-type books about Hollywood and actors.  I think it'd be unfair to automatically compare it to one of Mindy Kaling's books, but I hope there's some The Office tidbits in this one as well!

It Is (My) Birthday.

Going along with the "tv birthday" moments that I posted last year, this year I thought it would be fun to do something similar, but with some of my favorite birthday quotes:

- "I don't want to party like it's my birthday, I want to sell my house!" - Jeff Lewis, Flipping Out.

- "IT IS YOUR BIRTHDAY." - Dwight Schrute, The Office.

- "Pie can’t compete with cake. Put candles in a cake, it’s a birthday cake. Put candles in a pie, and somebody’s drunk in the kitchen." - Jim Gaffigan.

- "When I was seven, my mother hired a pony and a cart to come to my house for all the kids... and... I got a really bad rash from the pony, and all the kids got to ride the pony and I had to go inside, and my mother was rubbing cream on me... for probably three hours, and I never came outside. And by the time I got out the pony was already in the truck. And around the corner. So that was my worst birthday." - Michael Scott, The Office.

Actually, my first violent act involved that ticking time bomb that I left in your uterus when I left. Happy 50th Birthday, Lois. - Stewie Griffin, Family Guy.

- Lauren Conrad: So, fun question, which one of you invited Heidi?
Stephanie Pratt: Lo.
Lauren Conrad: I know Lo didn't, I was just being nice.  - The Hills

Anyone else have good birthday quotes to share?

We're Gonna Party Like It's (MY) Birthday

If I told you that I was one of those people that doesn't like to make a big deal about their birthdays, I'd be telling you a BIG FAT LIE, basically.  But since I can only say so much about my birthday (I'm really not that interesting, haha), I'd like to take this day to discuss some of my favorite birthday moments from tv shows:

- Lauren gets a surprise party for her birthday, which consists of her being trapped on a boat with her ex-BFF Heidi. (The Hills)
- Homer gives Marge a bowling ball for her birthday, with "HOMER" engraved on it. (The Simpsons)
- Instead of giving her the weekend off like she had requested, Jeff commissions an unflattering oil painting of Zoila, his housekeeper, and gives her that for her birthday. (Flipping Out)
- Lauren gives Heidi a friggin Chanel handbag for her birthday (WANT). (The Hills, pre-Speidi)
- On Meg's 17th birthday, Peter and Lois don't remember her age. (Family Guy)
- Bart sings a "Happy Birthday" duet with "Michael Jackson" for Lisa. (The Simpsons)
- Jessica gets Nick a monthly keg supply of Miller Lite for his birthday. (Newlyweds)
- Michael tries to sing harmony to "Happy Birthday". (The Office)

Any TV birthday moments that you guys like?
