Takeout Tuesday - Shake Shack's Korean-Style Fried Chick'n Sandwich

As soon as I saw that Shake Shack was bringing some of their South Korean Shack's Korean-inspired menu items to the US for a limited time I knew I had to go check it out!  I got the Korean-Style Fried Chick'n sandwich, which consists of "Gochujang- glazed crispy chicken breast over our white kimchi slaw featuring Choi's Kimchi Co. on our classic Martin's potato roll".

I already love the crispy chick'n sandwich at Shake Shack so I knew that this one would be great, to be honest. Adding a sweet spicy glaze with the Gochujang and a kimchi-based slaw sounded even better! My only complaint is that I wish there was more kimchi slaw included because I think it would've added even more texture.  If you're interested in trying the Korean-style menu be sure to check them out soon as they're only available for a limited time.

Shake Shack - Pumpkin Shake

What better way to get fully immersed in the fall spirit than a delicious pumpkin shake from Shake Shack?

This shake consists of a "vanilla frozen custard blended with real pumpkin, marshmallow, cinnamon, and nutmeg and topped with toasted pumpkin seeds".  I love the extra texture and decoration of the toasted pumpkin seeds on top, and that the pumpkin flavor isn't a super strong pumpkin pie-like flavor.  This shake is available through the end of October, so be sure to head over soon if you want to try it out!

Shake Shack - Cherry Blossom Shake

Shake Shack came out with some very exciting news this spring by bringing the famous cherry blossom shake from their Japanese outlets over to the US!  I have seen the cherry blossom/spring themed items being offered at their locations in Japan on social media in the past, and really wanted to try them out here.

This shake is a "vanilla frozen custard blended with cherry blossom and topped with pink chocolate curls".  I was so relieved that Shake Shack stayed true to the cherry blossom flavor and didn't default to a cherry flavor.  A lot of places (especially in the DC area) offer "cherry blossom specials" during the spring, but cherry blossoms are not cherries!  Since I don't like cherry flavors to begin with this is particularly a problem when I see it, haha.

I will admit that it's hard to describe the cherry blossom flavor, but it's slightly floral, sweet, but also a little salty, if salted cherry blossoms are used.  The real draw is the pretty pink color and a distinctly spring flavor.  I grew up enjoying sakura mochi and other cherry blossom chocolates and sweets, so I really enjoyed this shake.  Especially with the pretty pink chocolate curls on top which resemble cherry blossom petals - so cute!  This shake is only available for a limited time, depending on the location - I hope they bring it back again next spring!

Shake Shack - Cabin John/Potomac, MD

I am super excited to have a Shake Shack that is close to my house, woohoo!  The Cabin John/Potomac MD location had its grand opening yesterday, so I hustled over as soon as I could after work to check it out.  I love what they did with the entrance/patio area with all the different seating configurations.  You see one person in the photo here, but when I was leaving the patio was packed with a huge line going outside the door - I got there at just the right time!

I was mostly looking forward to seeing what concrete flavors are available at this location, because this varies at pretty much every Shake Shack.  I've seen the Shack Attack before but the Cookie Butter Blender is new to me, and sounded delicious! I love that the Pie Oh My concrete usually pairs with a local baker (Sweetly Anchored Patisserie here), and donates a portion of the proceeds to charity!

My main focus was the Custards, but I figured I should also get some dinner as well, haha.  I got the regular single hamburger and a single Cookie Butter Blender concrete.

Can I just say - I really appreciate when the concretes are made well.  You can see all the components that make up the concrete, but it's still blended together properly.  I've had some before that were clearly rushed or sitting out for too long where it looks messy, and this one was perfect!  Anyone that likes cookie butter/Biscoff cookies will love this one!

2017 Christmas Tree (with Andy Cohen)

I'm not sure if there's any sort of "official" time to start decorating for Christmas, but since my tree is tiny and takes about 5 minutes to decorate I figured I might as well start now, haha.  When do you all put up your holiday decorations?

As you might notice from the photos above, there's a general sweets/food theme to my Christmas tree, and over the years it has started to look like a big advertisement for various brands, haha.  Some of those include my favorites, like Shake Shack, Starbucks, and Dunkin Donuts

After decorating my tree last night, I realized that I had a Facebook memory from 2012 and realized that I was basically doing the same thing 5 years ago - hah!  I'm glad that Andy himself enjoyed this Christmas moment with me too :o)

Shake Shack - Hot Chick'n

The Hot Chick'n sandwich at Shake Shack isn't new by this point, but I hadn't been able to get around to trying it until recently.  I'm so glad that I did eventually, because this was AWESOME!  The regular Chick'n Shack sandwich is great already, and with the added spices and hot sauce slaw, this is a delicious stack of flavors for anyone that likes spicy food.  It's probably better that I don't have immediate access to a Shake Shack from home, because I'd get this way too often haha.  That being said, I hope they keep it on the menu at least a little bit longer so I can have it again before it's off the menu!

Shake Shack - Shackburger Plush

After buying my first place, you'd think that I would be more careful about spending money on "fun" things.  However when I saw this Shackburger x Yummy World collaboration plush burger, I hit Add to Cart faster than you can say Shake Shack, haha!

But seriously though, how could I, as a fan of both Shake Shack AND Yummy World plushes, resist buying this?? It's super soft and SO cute in person, and I love that it comes in a removable Shake Shack burger wrapper.  I'm totally justifying this purchase by considering it new home decor, and it adds the right amount of "burger" to my living room, haha.

Shake Shack Boston - Back Bay Blend Concrete

On a recent trip to Boston to visit friends, I had the chance to pop into Shake Shack to see what concretes they have at this location!  They all sounded great but I decided on the Back Bay Blend because you can never go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter.

I love that there's a tornado of sprinkles in the middle of the cup, haha.   This was a super rich and delicious cup of custard for anyone that loves chocolate!  The peanut butter sauce gets a little lost since I think it gets completely blended in, but the combination of all the ingredients was great, especially the texture from both the sprinkles and toffee pieces.  I was very happy to get to go to another Shake Shack location that I hadn't been to before!

Shake Shack - 2016 Christmas Ornament

It's that time of year again when a new Shake Shack Christmas ornament comes out, yay!

Once again Shake Shack is offering a free ornament with a $25+ gift card purchase, so it was an easy decision for me haha.  As you can see I also got the Pumpkin Pie holiday shake to make the visit extra festive.  This year's ornament is very cute, with their burger logo wearing a Shake Shack knit hat, haha.  I hope they keep coming out with these ornaments every year, I love collecting them!

November - Thanksgiving Cards

It's November, which means that Thanksgiving is already around the corner.  In the spirit of Thanksgiving and giving thanks, I will be sending a card out every day this month.  This will be a great way for me to stay in touch with my friends (and some "friends" like Shake Shack, Georgetown Cupcake, and Andy Cohen if I can, hahaha), and also actually use some of the massive stock of stationary that I have - so a win/win situation, really.  A lot of people associate Christmas with the time to send cards to others, but I highly encourage everyone to just send cards any time of year!

Shake Shack Shacktoberfest - Bavarian-style Pretzel

I always look forward to the limited edition/special menu items at Shake Shack, and I was very happy to see a new soft pretzel on the Shacktoberfest menu

This Bavarian-style soft pretzel is a "toasted soft pretzel topped with Bavarian spices", and you have the option of adding the Shack cheese sauce for $1, which can you see behind the pretzel.  The pretzel was nice and hot, with a crunchy bottom and soft inside.  I can't quite figure out what all of the spices are, but it was delicious and certainly not bland - and it was perfect with the gooey Shack cheese sauce to dip in.  I'm glad I had a chance to try this out before Shacktoberfest ends this weekend (October 2nd)!

Shake Shack - Chick'n Shack

This lovely Shake Shack Chick'n Shack debuted at all US Shake Shack locations back in January, and I was super excited to try it out.  The Chick'n Shack previously was only available at the Brooklyn locations so it was really great to hear that they had expanded this menu offering.

"The Chick’n Shack, Shake Shack’s modern twist on a classic, is crafted from a cage-free chicken breast—no hormones or antibiotics ever—slow-cooked in a creamy buttermilk marinade, hand-dipped into Shack-made batter, dredged through seasoned flour and crisp-fried. The Chick’n Shack is topped with pickles, crisp shredded lettuce and a tangy Shack-made buttermilk herb mayo made with chives, parsley and thyme."

The super crunchy batter is soooooooooooo delicious, and it was love at first bite for me.  I've had the Chick'n Shack twice since January and both times it was cooked perfectly and was a tasty, decadent meal.  I will always love the original Shackburger, but this is a great new menu option, and also for anyone that loves fried chicken!
